6 Reasons to Start Using Coconut Oil as Toothpaste

We all know that coconut oil can be used for a wide range of uses and purposes. However, did you know that you can use coconut oil as a base for toothpaste? Instead of using the commercial toothpaste which is packed with chemicals, try coconut oil. Coconut oil is a safer, healthier, and more effective alternative. There are 6 reasons why you should try coconut oil as toothpaste.

1. It is Completely Safe

This is an all-natural and safe toothpaste. It has no harmful chemicals and as such will keep your oral health and your teeth undamaged. Hence, even if you swallow some it will actually be healthy for you.

2. It Has No Foaming Agents

The commercial toothpaste contains a soap called sodium lauryl sulfate and thus, the toothpaste foams. However, it can cause canker sores, which is quite an issue. Hence, coconut oil has no foaming agents, which only goes to prove how safe it is.

3. It Has Antibacterial Effects

Due to its antibacterial properties, coconut oil will eliminate the bad bacteria in your mouth. It is as effective as toothpaste and mouthwash except that it doesn’t have harmful chemicals.

4. It is Affordable

What’s so great about coconut oil is that it is inexpensive and will last for months.

5. Even Your Dog Can Use It

This ingredient is also healthy for dogs. Coconut oil is as effective for the teeth of dogs as for the people’s teeth.

6. It is Easily Prepared

The coconut oil toothpaste is extremely easy to prepare. It isn’t time-consuming and it is a great DIY project. Here’s how to prepare it in the convenience of your home:

  • about ½ cup coconut oil
  • 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 15-20 drops of essential oils
  • 2 small packets of stevia

Take a jar and add the semi-hard coconut oil and add all the other ingredients. Mix well using a fork. In order to use the paste, you should dip your toothbrush in and scrape a small amount onto bristles. Brush your teeth as you would normally do.

Optionally, you can prepare another powerful paste with coconut oil or use coconut oil for oil pulling.
